If you’re planning to create an open plan kitchen and living space, you might look to either move house, revise the internal layout of your current home to make different use of the existing space, or consider extending your home to give you a greater floor plan to work with.
We appreciate how difficult it can be to visualise how your new open plan living space might look, which is why we use a variety of tools and techniques, including the latest technology, to help you get a feel for your new kitchen before the builders arrive. Rearranging kitchen units in an existing space is much easier to visualise than a room that doesn’t exist yet. So imagine being able to virtually stand your new kitchen and choose which island shape will work best, appreciate the zones that have been designed, understand the difference that lighting will make, see whether you’ll have space for sofas and a dining table, and help you make key architectural design decisions such as window, radiator and wall placement with confidence.
The kitchen has always been the hardest working room in your home and we are driven by our dedication to design a space that will work for your family in all the ways that matter to you; a space to cook, relax, entertain and so much more.
Multi function spaces have become even more necessary at the moment, when your kitchen may have also become your office and home school too. In the absence of eating out and socialising, you may be rediscovering your culinary skills or exploring new ways of sourcing and preparing food. You may have decided that by spending much more time at home, the time has come to create the open plan kitchen living space you've always dreamed of. And we're all looking forward to when we’re able to meet up with friends and family again; what better way to reunite than by inviting the people you love most to come together in a new kitchen, at the heart of your home.
As well as walking you through each stage of the kitchen design, we can also manage the project for you. Liaising with architects, scheduling builders, tilers, plumbers and electricians can be a time sensitive process. We can recommend tradespeople who we regularly work with, or are happy to work with your team to ensure the whole project runs smoothly.
We decided to reorganise our internal layout and extend the back of the whole house into the garden. We moved the kitchen from the front to the back of the house and used the new extension as an orangery. We’d never done anything like this before and although I have a creative mind, I found it very difficult to get my head around how the room would look once it was built and where we wanted things to be. I didn’t find it easy to think ‘right, we’re going to change the house around’. I needed to see one thing sorted before I could move onto the next step. For example, before the walls were built, I couldn’t imagine where the radiators would go. We looked at lights for about two weeks and each little step has taken a while to sort out. The patience we got from Angela and Jeremy was extraordinary.
